The original Techno Viking can only be seen for about 6 minutes dancing on a big street parade in a video which was originally uploaded by user subrealic. What made the Techno Viking into a real youtube star, are the many responses which were made to this video.

At first the video featuring the Techno Viking was uploaded with the title 'Kneecam No. 1'. During its first time online it was not much different than the thousands of other videos on youtube. The real breakthrough came, when someone uploaded the video to break.com and called the person in the video a techno viking. In the description of the video the user wrote the legendary words 'The techno viking does not dance to the music, the music dances to techno viking'. This sentence has become really famous when talking about the Techno Viking.

It wasn't until then, that suddenly people around the globe discovered the Techno Viking. By now the original technoviking video, still called 'Kneecam No. 1' has received millions of views. But what the Techno Viking really made into a legend, are the many video responses which users all over the world have created. In these video responses it becomes clear that the Techno Viking has turned into a real phenomenon, a virtual youtube star.

What is interesting about the Techno Viking phenomenon, is that the real Techno Viking only exists in this one short video from the street parade. Unlike youtube legends like Obamagirl or Susan Boyle, nobody knows who the person behind the Techno Viking really is. Until now, nobody has managed to find the Techno Viking in real life. And that makes the Techno Viking even more of a legend.
